Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed the ruling party members yesterday (08) that steps will be taken to ban the slaughter of cattle for food.

The meeting of the ruling party’s parliamentary group was held in Parliament yesterday (08) under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

No Member of Parliament has objected to the Prime Minister’s statement banning cattle slaughter.

Deforestation was also discussed and the Prime Minister has stated that no one will be allowed to destroy the forest. It has been emphasized that severe punishments will be imposed against such destroyers.

The Prime Minister has also focused on the issue of fertilizer and has requested the members of parliament to intervene in the matter of providing fertilizer to the farmers in a timely manner.
